As the internet has grown more pervasive, the risks to users and corporations continue to grow. Regulations have increasingly been created to protect data, users, and corporations from potential threats. Often, the regulations require implementation of appropriate information management tools to comply.
Assurance Data, Inc., and our technology partner Websense® can help. The Websense suite of products and services not only aid compliance with some of the more prominent information security regulations, but will increase productivity, manage bandwidth, and decrease legal liability.

Some of the regulations that Websense helps meet:
CALIFORNIA BREACH DISCLOSURE ACT
Effective July 1, 2003, the California Breach Disclosure Act mandates that companies that do business in California or have customers in California notify customers whenever there is a known - or simply suspected - unauthorized distribution of their personal information.
Websense® can help by mitigating the risk of internet security breaches with Websense Web Security Suite™, Websense Enterprise®, Security PG™ and Client Policy Manager™.
HEALTH INSURANCE PORTABILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY ACT
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) was enacted in 1996 in part to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the health care system by establishing national standards for electronic health care transactions that are currently carried out manually on paper. However, it was also recognized that advances in electronic technology could erode the privacy of health information. Therefore, there are provisions in HIPAA that require health care organizations to adopt privacy and security protections for individually identifiable health information.
Websense Enterprise, Websense Web Security Suite, and Client Policy Manager can help with HIPAA Compliance and policy-based management of desktop applications and web site visits to prevent access to protected information by unauthorized parties.
GRAMM-LEACH-BLILEY ACT
Section 501 of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) mandates that financial services firms implement and enforce a written "information security program" to protect non-public customer data. It is therefore important that financial institutions be able to monitor and track any electronic information entering or exiting their messaging systems as an integral part of IT security.
Websense can help financial institutions comply with GLBA by increasing security from web-based threats as well as implementing policy-based management to protect against unauthorized access to sensitive information.
CHILDREN’S INTERNET PROTECTION ACT (CIPA)
CIPA requires libraries and schools to install web filters in order to retain federal funding and discounts for computers and computer access.
Websense offers web filtering software that is CIPA compliant.
SARBANES-OXLEY ACT (SOX)
The Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) is a US compliance legislation, signed in 2002. The stated purpose of the Act is "to protect investors by improving the accuracy and reliability of corporate disclosures made pursuant to the security laws, and for other purposes." Websense can help by providing internet security at the desktop, network and gateway to protect corporate data. |
